Better Bug Reporting Guidelines
- In a bug report, developers are primarily searching for three things. Steps to replicate the defect, expected results, and actual results are what they are. Make sure to include these in your report.
- It has been found that attaching a video works considerably better than doing it with a snapshot. You may use any movie editing program, but Loom is what I would advise.
- Bugs can occasionally be environment specific. Make sure it is appropriately mentioned.
- Even if you want to include a screenshot, be sure it explains everything.
- Add ID, Title, and other search-friendly elements to the report.
- Understand the audience of the report clearly.
- The priority and severity of the reported issue will be evaluated. Thus, describing how problems affect users, in the end, is helpful.
- Bring up concerns independently rather than cramming them into a few or single reports.
- Features can occasionally pass for bugs. Make an effort to fully grasp the software.
- Steps that wouldn't affect the problem shouldn't be included.
- Duplicate reports occasionally contain more information, so they are not necessarily harmful.
- Make sure that the investigation is thorough before drafting a report.
